By using the Site, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Cookies, advertising, and affiliate links
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies, some placed by us and some by our partners. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the Site may not work as intended.
Advertising. We show ads to keep the Site free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this Site and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners show ads to you based on those visits. Our ad partners may include Google AdSense, Ezoic, and Mediavine.
- Opt out of personalized Google ads at Google Ads Settings.
- Opt out of many third-party vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu (Europe).
- Learn how Google uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland, and certain US states will see a consent or privacy choices message where required by law.
Affiliate links. Some links on the Site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate partners use cookies to track that the purchase came from our Site. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Embedded content. Posts may include embedded maps, videos, or social media posts (for example, Google Maps, YouTube, Instagram). These behave as if you visited the other site and may collect data about you under that site's own privacy policy.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep newsletter data until you unsubscribe, comments for as long as they are published, and contact messages for up to 24 months. Contributor information is kept for as long as we publish your work and as required for tax and business records. We use reasonable safeguards such as SSL encryption, secure hosting, and limited access, but no website is 100% secure.
Children's privacy
The Site is meant for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
YOUR CHOICES
Your privacy choices and rights
You can always:
- Unsubscribe from emails using the link in any newsletter.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser and use the ad opt-out links above.
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it.
Depending on where you live (for example, California, Colorado, Oregon, or other US states with privacy laws, or the EU/UK), you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your data; to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and targeted advertising; and to appeal our decision on your request. We will not treat you differently for using these rights. To make a request, email us at the address below. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within the time required by law.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for that browser, where our ad tools support it. There is no common standard for browser "Do Not Track" signals, so the Site does not respond to them.
Links to other websites
We link to restaurants, attractions, shops, and other businesses. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the Site, our partners, or the law changes. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date. For major changes, we may also notify newsletter subscribers.
