The best places to stay in Port Angeles are Sea Cliff Gardens Bed & Breakfast, Olympic Lodge and Red Lion Hotel Port Angeles Harbor for top ratings, and Flagstone Motel or Riviera Inn for budget. Red Lion sits on the beach, about a block from downtown, so you can walk to the Coho ferry going to Victoria, Canada.

Where to stay in Port Angeles depends on why you are going. If you are here for the ferry or a walk on the waterfront, you want to be near downtown. If you are here for Olympic National Park, you can stay a little farther out and save money. Port Angeles is a base for outdoor recreation, and Hurricane Ridge in the national park is reached only from Port Angeles, according to Wikivoyage. The town is on the northern tip of the Olympic Peninsula, and the MV Coho ferry crosses to Victoria, British Columbia, in about 90 minutes.

If you are planning around the festival, read our guide to Crabfest in Port Angeles. This post lists the highest-rated places and three budget picks for each type of stay, and no place appears twice. It names the booking site behind every number. Sites use different scales and change often, so all ratings and prices here are as of October 21, 2026. Prices are "from" rates for sample dates, not quotes. Check the live price and your dates before you book.
By the Numbers: 17 hotels on Kayak's Port Angeles list, scores from 6.5 to 9.5 out of 10, "from" prices starting around $66 a night, and about a 90-minute ferry ride to Victoria.

Neighborhood Vibes
Port Angeles is the largest city on the Olympic Peninsula and its county seat, and Wikivoyage calls it the "Center of it All" for the region. It is a working waterfront town on the Strait of Juan de Fuca, closer to Victoria, British Columbia, than to the state capital. The downtown waterfront has Ediz Hook, a spit for beachcombing and birdwatching with views of the city and Canada, plus the Feiro Marine Life Center, the Olympic Coast Discovery Center (free) and the City Pier for crabbing and shrimping.
Weather is milder and drier than most of the peninsula. Wikivoyage reports about 25 inches of rain a year, among the lowest on the peninsula because of the Olympic rain shadow, and mild summers with highs usually in the 70s Fahrenheit. Most hotels and motels sit along East 1st and 2nd Streets and the waterfront, per Travelocity's addresses, so you can usually find a room within a short drive of downtown.
Staying here means a quiet, outdoorsy base rather than a nightlife town. Crabfest weekend is the exception, when about 10,000 visitors arrive and the waterfront fills with music and crowds, according to our Crabfest guide.
Getting There and Getting Around
- From Seattle: our Crabfest guide puts the drive at about 76 miles, roughly three hours with a ferry crossing. Wikivoyage says about two hours via the Edmonds-Kingston ferry and Route 104 to Highway 101, so allow two to three hours depending on ferry timing. For a stop on the way, see our Bainbridge Island day trip.
- Without a car: the National Park Service lists the Dungeness Bus Line from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to Port Angeles, and a Clallam Transit bus from the Bainbridge Island ferry terminal. Confirm schedules before you plan around them. If you want your own wheels, see our guide to SeaTac car rentals.
- From Victoria: the MV Coho (Black Ball Ferry Line) crosses in 90 minutes, per Wikivoyage, with up to four sailings a day in summer and two in winter. Bring a passport.
- Hurricane Ridge: Clallam Transit runs shuttles from downtown Port Angeles to Hurricane Ridge from May to September 1, per the National Park Service. Check the schedule.
Top Rated Hotels and Inns

- Sea Cliff Gardens Bed & Breakfast: 9.5/10 (Kayak), 86 reviews, from about $477. Kayak's page describes it as the area's single four-star option. It is the priciest on the list, so it suits a splurge.
- Olympic Lodge: 9.3/10 (Kayak), 1,398 reviews, from about $163. At 140 Del Guzzi Drive per Travelocity, about a 10-minute drive from the ferry terminal. Black Ball Ferry's Crabfest page lists a free Crabfest shuttle, which must be reserved by calling at least 72 hours before the festival (and no earlier than two weeks before), plus free breakfast from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
- Red Lion Hotel Port Angeles Harbor: 7.9/10 (Kayak), 2,196 reviews, from about $190. At 221 N Lincoln St, on the beach and about a block from the town center, with 187 rooms per Black Ball. Travelocity lists it at 3 stars from about $134.
- 7 Cedars Hotel & Casino (Sequim): 9.0/10 (Kayak), 420 reviews, from about $148. At 270756 US-101, Sequim, about a 30-minute drive from the Black Ball terminal in Port Angeles, per Black Ball Ferry. Expedia rates it 9.6/10 from 572 reviews (from about $207 for its sample night), and the two sites' prices cover different dates. Why go: rooms are newer and larger than most Port Angeles motels (a double queen is 436 sq ft), and it has a casino, two restaurants, free parking and an adjacent 18-hole golf course. It also tends to have rooms when Port Angeles sells out. Trade-offs: you need a car or the shuttle to reach Port Angeles, it is not pet friendly, and the casino floor is being remodeled, so some games may be limited. Shuttle: yes. Black Ball lists a complimentary hotel shuttle that requires an advance reservation, made with the hotel at booking or at least 24 hours before arrival. It leaves the Port Angeles terminal at 12:30 p.m. and leaves 7 Cedars at 7:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. It can also be arranged for 2:30 p.m. to give you time in Port Angeles first, or for the 4:00 p.m. sailing. Kayak also lists a free shuttle. Expedia does not mention one, so confirm times with the hotel.

Crabfest and Event Weekends

For Port Angeles Crabfest hotels, note that the 2026 festival ran October 9 to 11 and falls on Canadian Thanksgiving weekend, according to our Crabfest guide. We have not confirmed the 2027 dates, so check the festival site. Rooms go quickly. Our Crabfest guide recommends booking at least two weeks before the festival, and last time Port Angeles was almost fully booked three nights out.
Prices rise too. Black Ball Ferry's 2026 Crabfest package page listed Red Lion at $232 on Friday, $239 on Saturday and $152 on Sunday, and Olympic Lodge at $249, $259 and $152, all per person with double occupancy. Those are package rates, not room rates, but they show how much weekends cost compared with Sunday. If you only need one night, consider Sunday.
